so i was bored, surfing myspace & i went to the music top artists section. i remember my boy/photographer Ben hit me up on my old myspace page back in 2006 & said i was one of the top hip hop artists. so every once in a while i'll check in & see if people are listening (curiosity)

and low & behold, I looked in the Christian category for the city I'm in & BAM

then I looked in the Soul category & BOOM

and finally I looked at the hip-hop charts

i'm excited, seeing as how #1 I just set this page up not even 3 months ago, only paying attention to it for 2, and only somewhat promoting it a few weeks ago. so praise God for opening up those ears...1400+ plays already??

this calls for a celebration...

just keep spreading the word for me, I love y'all for loving what I do...I promise to keep it up, big things in the works

Moving On Up!!!!

I guess I didn't explain myself clear enough. Reading back, I look more like a movie critic more than anything. But since I got a few emails from a few people that had a few issues about the Juno blog (read that blog below), lemme clear something up...

(Side note: I highly DOUBT those of you that hit me up read the blog. Cats just saw my "juno was a disaster" bulletin on myspace and the claws came out, I see you, goonie goo goos)

Teen pregnancy is a big issue here in this country. Its like a cycle and they push sex around here like candy (but you better not say anything bad about this country!!). I mean, they're building day cares in middle school.

Back in 7th grade (which was 10 yrs ago *shudders*) I had maybe 2-3 friends that were sexually active. Only a few more than that got past 1st base. Nowadays?? Pffffft...I have 14 and 15 year old play cousins asking me about condoms. The piss??

So this movie Juno comes out, and it tackles a sensitive subject, an important subject, and my issue with it? They only showed one side. They made pregnancy seem like "not a big deal". No morning sickness, no backlash from her school/neighborhood (oooh they talked about her for one scene and the baby daddy aint wanna go to prom with her, big whoop). I had a friend that got pregnant her junior year that had to fight a girl IN CLASS cuz the students were dogging her so bad. AND she had to leave and be home schooled until the following year. I'd much rather miss a dance than have to put the beats to somebody and put my fetus in dangah...

Now I'm cool with the story (even tho it sucked), but if you're gonna tell a story, especially something that is such a sensitive issue, at least explain both sides, as opposed to the chick going "la la laaa I'm pregnant, here's my baby strange woman, and while you tend to her, I'm gonna run side game on your husband". I understand that some people handle things differently, but the entire story and premise was just so off the wall and unbelievable, I couldn't rock with it.

Better????

So now that the offspring is back with her mother, my wife & I finally have some time to be newlyweds.  In our pursuit of adjustment, we "dinner & a movie" it constantly, so since there's not a whole lot of new movies coming out that are worth $8, we're catching up (I still wanna see Horton, *shakes fist at my attention seeking daughter for making us leave early*).  The Oscars have hyped up There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Atonement, and the movie we ended up seeing first, Juno…

What the piss was this??

Already as a young father I'm paranoid.  I cringe even when my baby dances to anything other than gospel & Effect music.  I'm already looking for guns online, waiting on the 1st stank booty lil boy to come to my door on some "I'm here to take your daughter out" steez…(YA LOOK THIRTY!!!)

So here I am, watching this movie about a girl that gets pregnant at the age of 16.  I already missed the 1st 10 minutes (boo-urns to wack base cops, I stopped at the stop sign!!  Stop using me as your entertainment), the popcorn was dry (SMH @ stingy base theatres, let me pour the butter on myself!!!), and my wife decided to get root beer, already my night is crappy.

Maybe 30 minutes into the movie she finally tells her parents.  She's been very nonchalant about this whole pregnancy thing so far (and continues to do so during the entire movie).  Are they trying to say her age makes her naïve to the severity of her situation???  Or because of the fact that she's a live action Daria, her sarcasm was supposed to be funny.  Either way, her parents don't even flinch.  They support her (which they should do), but there's no repercussions, her father just kinda sits there…is this white america??  Or is the ugly monster known as tolerance rearing its ugly face in our society…again.

THEN, aside from the crappy soundtrack (Big Daddy Kane's "How You Get A Record Deal was stuck in my head the entire movie, another reason why I couldn't enjoy myself) there's an underlying pedophile story between the adoptive father & Juno.  It ended up not serving a purpose, because, surprise…she gives them the baby anyway.  (No I didn't ruin the ending)

I just don't get it, for all the accolades it received; it was just a really BAD movie.  I know I'm riding the late bus, but if you haven't seen this movie, DON'T…

Side note: it started at 7, by the time we got out the theatre the sun was STILL out…

The Disaster Known As "Juno"

I'm sorry y'all, I've been babbling on these blogs about irrelevant stuff. Hence the lack of comments, I get it lol. Ima try to speak on more important issues that speak to us all, here we go...

Just sitting here listening to Kirk's latest album (mainly Chains & It Would Take All Day) and its got me thinking...we put such a light on our chains, demons, and strongholds. Now, that's a good thing, BUT...sometimes it gets to the point where it consumes our walk. We end up being bummed out and bogged down over issues that we have no control of.

Anxiety, fear, and several other emotions that are NOT intended by God to be felt by His people are taking over. Energy we could be spending praising, witnessing, and serving are spent in worry and doubt. Why is that? I agree that the church should focus on these things and how to deal with/allow God to rid us of them. BUT, sometimes it gets to the point where you spend every waking moment on egg shells. "Am I doing OK?" "Is this wrong?" "Should I do this?"

Its definitely NOT how God wants us to live. But this crazy, fallen world can make its presence felt. The doubt the world places on Christianity as a whole causes us to debate about biblical issues instead of truly spreading the word of God. Its SCARY how bad we are persecuted, and its only getting worse.

Believers are simply dusted off as "right-wing", forcing a lot of us to become tolerant to issues that upset God in order to not be thrown into that pit. Preachers that teach prosperity are seen as money hungry, preachers that preach against tolerance are made to be "hate mongers" (my sister's pastor, Rod Parsley, said that Allah is a spiritual demon, as are the teachings of Islam, MSNBC tried to spit fire @ him). Preachers that actually have a sense of reality are seen as crazy, or end up being judged by other churches (christians) because their style is too unorthodox (I.e- Obama's pastor that says "God damn America" cuz of all the crap we've done...which I agree with, yet he supports homosexuality, I don't agree with the lifestyle, but they're God's children too...difficult issue to deal with)

Right now, in my mind I am truly asking God "where are You", I wish the world would see more of You (in a positive light), help me to understand Your plan....

Blurred Focus

edit: the video works now

Who knew an ex-Sportscenter anchor could spit so much fiyahhhh!!!

The only comment I have is this: I'm 23 yrs old. I wasn't around for Martin & Malcolm, and I was too young to remember when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson had a good rapport with the US (instead of their rep now as being the bigger brother you go get when somebody picks on you). So as long as I have lived, there haven't been any real leaders for the african american community. And if you think Ima say 2Pac, slap yourself.

I don't agree with everything Obama stands for. I think he's gonna be the scapegoat for every white person if he's elected. I think some blacks don't want him in office because they WANT to forever blame the white man for holding them back. But the one thing I love about Barack is that he's inspiring this generation that has nothing to look forward to. He's their proof that we can do whatever it is we set our minds to.

So there should be NO reason why we should think that supporting Obama cuz he's black is wrong. I dunno HOW many times I've had a convo like this:

Them: "so who are you voting for?"

Me: "Obama"

Them: "why? Cuz he's black?"

I SHOULD be like "yeah cuz he's black!!!"

I mean shoot, most of McCain's supporters are old war vets that look JUST like him, what's the difference?? Hillary won a few months ago cuz she cried and had the soccer mom vote feel sorry for her, them girls came out in DROVES to vote for her, cuz they RELATED to her (for whatever funky reason).

All I'm saying is, stand up for what you believe in. Don't let anybody sway your opinion (unless they come with solid facts), and definitely go vote this November...
